Also known as "Golden Visas" these programs offer foreign investors multiple pathways through which to obtain permanent residency and - if desired - citizenship. The common goal of the issuing country is to secure direct foreign investments to spur local economic growth.
Qualified applicants include international business executives, investors, public figures / VIPs, and private citizens who meet the minimum application requirements. In general, applicants must be at least 18 years of age and have the financial means to fulfill a program's minimum investment levels. In addition, applicants must generally demonstrate a clean criminal record, proof of health insurance, and proof of economic resources to support themselves financially during the residency period prior to receiving citizenship.
Common reasons for obtaining a second or alternative citizenship/residency include a better quality of life, international tax planning, and a safety net should the living conditions at home become unstable.
Security. Opportunity. Peace of Mind.
Immigration by investment programs resulting in residency or citizenship of another country have become very popular in the last few years. Travel benefits, financial advantages, business opportunities, peace of mind, and the freedom associated with having a second passport are all reasons mentioned by our clients why they proceeded with filing an application.
The Permanent Residency by Investment programs offered by several European countries, for example, are valued especially by business executives. EU residency from a Schengen member country allows the investor convenient, visa-free travel across the Schengen Area, a group of 26 European countries that have abolished passport and immigration controls at their common borders. In addition, permanent residents may live in the issuing country as long as desired, usually without being subjected to minimum-stay requirements.
On the other hand, Citizenship by Investment programs, resulting in the investor receiving the passport of the country, go a step further: becoming a citizen of a member country of the European Union, for example, allows for visa-free travel to over 168 countries, including the Asia, the Middle East, Africa, the USA, Canada, and most countries in North, Central and South America.
Further, when compared with the applicant's homeland, citizenship of a European country can also mean retirement in a safe country with a warm climate, a better education for the applicant’s children, and a better quality of life for the family. In addition, applicants may also enjoy a higher level of personal security, income tax advantages, and the freedom associated with having multiple passports. Once EU citizenship is granted, the applicant may live, work or study in any of the member countries of the European Union.

Application procedure overview / next Steps
The following is an example of the step-by-step procedure for filing a citizenship application. The procedure varies from country to country, but this example provides a good indication of the typical application steps.
Step #1: Free Initial Consultation. If
you already know which residency or citizenship by investment
program is right for you you can simply
fill out our contact form, and an advisor
from the country you have selected will contact you to explain
the program, answer any questions you might have, and prepare
a quotation detailing all fees. There is no charge for this
initial consultation and quotation.
Step #2: Document Preparation. Should you wish to proceed with an application, the immigration attorney assigned to your case will prepare your application file and collect all supporting documents from you. The completed application is then submitted to the government office administering the program for which you are applying.
Step #3: Application Processing. The government now reviews your application and conducts various background checks.
Step #4: Compliance Period. Upon receiving the approval (in principle) from the government the applicant must complete all requirements for obtaining citizenship, which might include purchasing or renting property, making any contributions or investments, completing any residency period, and so on.
Step #5: Naturalization Certificate and Passport. Upon final approval of the citizenship application the applicant receives his/her certificate of naturalization and passport. The entire process can be as fast as 3-6 months in countries where there is no residency requirement prior to granting citizenship. In other countries where there is a residency period, the time to receiving the passport can take between 12 months to 10 years, depending on the location.
